AFDP Workshop on Strengthening Corporate Governance within Financial Institutions Held in SNAI
AFDP 2004 Workshop on Strengthening Corporate Governance within Financial Institutions was held in SNAI on May 19, 2004. The Workshop was co-sponsored by APEC Finance and Development Program (AFDP), APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) Finance Forum and China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (CNCPEC).
The 4-day workshop focused on corporate governance within financial institutions, particularly some related issues of common concern to the APEC economies. Face-to-face instruction, case study and discussion were included in the workshop, which actually led to interactive results. Senior government officials from member economies, experts from IFIs, renowned scholars in the study of corporate governance and many practitioners were invited to speak at the workshop, which was attended by officials from ministries of finance and central banks, bank and securities regulators, senior executives from financial institutions and experts from financial research institutions and IFIs.
The grand opening ceremony of the workshop was chaired by Dr. Li, deputy secretary-general of AFDP, and Mr. Ken Waller, senior consultant of APEC Business Advisory Council.
