AFDP Workshop on Developing Corporate Bond Market in APEC Economies to be Held in August
The workshop on Developing Corporate Bond Market in APEC Economies, sponsored by the APEC Finance and Development Program (AFDP) will be held in Shanghai National Accounting Institute on August 6-8, 2004.
Corporate bond are debt obligations issued by private and public corporations. Issuing corporate bonds is an important way to diversify the finance resources for corporations. Significantly propelling the development of corporate bonds is a pressing task that APEC economies confront with at present. This Workshop on Developing Corporate Bond Market in APEC Economies seeks to present an up-to-date regional overview of the status quo and main trends in the development of corporate bond market in the APEC region, as well as to promote an in-depth discussion on some issues of significance in the corporate bond market system. Topics such as: snapshot of the corporate bond markets in APEC economies; issuing systems of corporate bond market; corporate bond pricing mechanism; secondary market trading of corporate bond; development of the credit rating system and creditor protection; government support and supervisory framework for the market etc will be discussed.
It is expected that by bringing together managers engaged in corporate bond offering or other operations in financial intermediaries; experts from international financial institutions; and executives of large private corporations; and officials in relevant government department in the region, the workshop will serve as a platform for the exchange of experience, ideas, and best practices in the region from the view of the supervisory authorities and market players. This, in turn, will further contribute to the development of corporate bond market in the region.
