Dr. LI Kouqing Met Senior Advisor Ms. Lorraine Allan from Australian Ministry of Finance
Dr. LI Kouqing met with Ms. Lorraine Allan, Senior Advisor of Ministry of Finance, Australia in the morning on April 27. Ms. Allan had arrived at SNAI to consult with Dr. LI about the preliminary work for the Seminar on the Policy Dialogue of APEC Financial Sector Reform scheduled for early July this year in Shanghai. The meeting was practical with a fairly cooperative tone and consensus has been reached between the two parties.
The Seminar is initiated by the Ministries of Finance of five economies including Australia, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan under APEC FMM process. Co-sponsored by Australia and China and organized by AFDC, the seminar is intended as a policy dialogue among officials from Ministries of Finance and Central Banks and experts from international organizations and academia of APEC economies. The aim of the dialogue is to facilitate the establishment of a stable financial system and to bring about a constant and steady economic development in the region.
Meanwhile, another seminar was proposed at the meeting by the Australian side to be held in Indonesia in November this year to further the dialogue to a more technical level concerning the financial sector reform of APEC economies. Both sides expressed satisfaction about this preparatory meeting and reaffirmed their wishes to strengthen cooperation in follow-up actions so as to bring the coming policy dialogue to a desirable consummation.
After the meeting, Ms. Allan went on a visit around SNAI and gave high remarks on the beautiful campus and excellent amenities of the Institute. She said she was quite confident in the final success of the seminar, given the mutual efforts of both China and Australia.
