Seminar on International and Domestic Economic Outlook Held

The International Department of Ministry of Finance, together with AFDC organized the Seminar on International and Domestic Economic Outlook on March 3, 2008 in Beijing.

 The seminar was attended by the Vice Minister Li Yong, who gave the wrap-up speech, the Deputy Director-General of the International Department of MOF Mr. Chen Shixin, who chaired the seminar, as well as Mr. Yu Yongding, Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. Louis Kuijs, senior economist at the World Bank’s Beijing Office, independent economist Mr. Andy Xie Guozhong, Mr. Huang haizhou, president of the research department of China International Capital Corporation Limited, researcher Li Jianwei with the Development Research Center of the State Council, chief analyst Zhu jianfang with Citic Securities Co., Ltd, who all delivered keynote speeches. Deputy Director-General of AFDC, Dr. Li Kouqing and Mr.Yang Jinlin were also present at the seminar.

Three topics were discussed during the seminar: the international economic outlook and the external challenges for China, the tendency and risks of China’s macro economy, and the policy options of China’s macro economy. Vice Minister Li summarized that there is increasing uncertainty in the international and domestic economic outlook with the unfolding of the subprime crisis in the US. In order to get a perspective on the economic situation at home and abroad and to realize the stable growth of China’s economy, it is very conducive to hold regular seminars related to these issues.
