Deputy Director-General of AFDC Dr. Li attended the 2008 Asian CoP-MfDR Annual Meeting
On November 12-14, the Community of Practice on Managing for Development Results (CoP-MfDR) held its 2008 Annual Meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting was co-sponsored by the Asian Development Bank and the Ministry of Plan Implementation of the Government of Sri Lanka. More than 20 participants from 15 developing countries in Asia met in Colombo for the CoP-MfDR 2008 Annual Meeting.
Participants gained collective wisdom by sharing country-specific experiences in MfDR and seeing firsthand Sri Lanka's country-led MfDR agenda, making the event a showcase of peer-to-peer learning and south-to-south cooperation. The Ministry of Plan Implementation introduced to the participants the Sri Lanka efforts of promoting results-based management. In addition, the African CoP representatives were invited to brief the African CoP work and shared the results of MfDR ACCRA high level forum.
Since 2007, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Chinese Ministry of Finance and the AFDC have been implementing SHIPDET to strength the M&E capacity building for China and the Asian developing countries. SHIPDET has been well received in the region. Deputy Director-General Dr. Li of AFDC was invited to chair the discussion on capacity building, briefing the SHIPDET progress. Dr. Li also had a very active discussion with the SHIPDET alumni and other representatives for their suggestions on SHIPDET training and on how to improve MfDR capacity building.
