AFDC Attended the IDEAS Global Assembly 2009
The 2009 global assembly of International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS) was held from 17-30 March 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Min Zhao from AFDC attended the meeting at the invitation of IDEAS and submitted a paper entitled How to Overcome Deficiencies in Evaluation Capacity in China.
Over 250 delegates from 24 countries and international financial institutions attended this global gathering. Participants engaged in heated exchanges and discussions on the attainments made in evaluation capacity building in their respective country, challenges lurking ahead and action plans. 30 workshops on evaluation theory and methodology, operation, practical experience, policy direction, development trends, and future reform were also offered for the delegates to build their skills and deepen their understanding of evaluation practice.
During the meeting, Dr. Zhao briefed to the development practitioners the progress of development evaluation in China and shared with them efforts made by AFDC in promoting evaluation capacity building and development in Asia. International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and OECD expressed their interest to cooperate with China in development evaluation. IFAD in particular expressed their willingness to cooperate with AFDC in fields of evaluation capacity building, knowledge management and evaluation consulting program.
