Workshop on Performance Evaluation of IFIs and Foreign Loan-funded Projects Comes to A Successful Completion
The five-day training workshop on performance evaluation of international financial institutions and foreign loan-funded projects was successfully closed on September 18, 2009. The workshop was attended by 55 participants from various financial institutions and Guangdong Province’s World Bank project offices. The Deputy Director-General of the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center, Mr. Li Kouqing, and the Director of the International Loan division of the Guangdong Finance Bureau, Mr. Li Shuyuan, opened the workshop on the morning of September 14th.
The Chinese Ministry of Finance, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and AFDC launched the Shanghai International Program for Development Evaluation Training (SHIPDET) in April of 2007. Since then, it has served as an information sharing platform for the Chinese government and those of other developing countries in the region. The past three years have witnessed the growth of SHIPDET into a respected Asia-Pacific capacity building platform.
This workshop, which follows April’s SHIPDET workshop for government officials from the western region of China, focused on performance evaluation and was tailored to the needs of Chinese government officials, combining local practice with international experience. Dr. Zhao Min of the AFDC was the lead instructor of this training. Guest speakers from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Research Institute for Fiscal Science, MOF and Fudan University lectured on topics such as performance budgeting and performance evaluation of public expenditure.
