2010 SHIPDET National Offering closed on April 16th

The 2010 SHIPDET national training was closed on April 16th. More than 70 participants from 27 provinces across China took part in the training. The Deputy Director-Generals of the International Department of the Ministry of Finance of China and the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center gave the keynote speeches at the opening.

Designed specifically for the 2010 national pilot of performance evaluation of IFIs' projects led by the International Department, this national offering aims to help evaluation practitioners and officials relevant to this pilot evaluation to grasp the concepts and procedures of project M&E.
The combination of theory and practices has always been much emphasized at the SHIPDET training. The faculty team not only includes experts from SHIPDET partners such as the World Bank to instruct the core courses, but also consists of local experts from National Center for Science and Technology Evaluation, Research Institute for Fiscal Science and Shanghai Finance Bureau to introduce the current practices of performance evaluation in Shanghai and China.

In addition to class instruction, field trip and case study are also one of the features of SHIPDET training. At this training, the Suzhou creek rehabilitation project was chosen as the case project and the participants were organized to visit the exhibition hall dedicated to this project to get a better understanding of the project, which helps them to finish the group work of evaluation design matrix.

At the end of the training, AFDC organized a one-day workshop on performance evaluation of IFIs’ projects to provide the participants with more hands-on practices of how to apply what they have learned to the real work.
