Shanghai DLC/AFDC delegates attend GDLN-AP 2010 Meeting in Sri Lanka

On Nov 15, Global Distance Learning Network Asia Pacific members gathered at the Sri Lanka for the second annual GDLN Asia Pacific Regional Meeting.  The meeting was organized and sponsored by the World Bank and the Sri Lanka Distance Learning Center, Ltd. 42 representatives came from the World Bank, Institute for Development Strategy and 15 distance learning centers in East Asia Pacific region and South Asia region. Dr. Peng Runzhong and Melody Wang attended the meeting on behalf of Shanghai Distance Learning Center.

The 5-day meeting covers many sessions, including Global Knowledge Sharing for Development, GDLN Global Update, Sustainability of the regional network and association, capacity building program and others.

The sessions were chaired or moderated by Philip Karp, regional GDLN coordinator, Michael Foley, senior consultant of network development in South Asia, Maree Tait, GDLN Board representative of East Asia and pacific region and Han Fraeters, GDLN Board member and others. Representatives from Europe and Central Asia region, South Asia region, Latin America and Caribbean region, and Africa region made speeches on the sessions. 

On behalf of Shanghai Distance Learning Center, Melody Wang reported at capacity development sessions on progress made in 2010 and announced that Shanghai DLC will explore more bilateral distance events in the next year in hope of promoting capacity building and knowledge sharing among GDLN AP members.
