AFDC Meeting with African Capacity Building Foundation to Explore Partnership

On behalf of AFDC, Prof. Liu Qin, Vice President of Shanghai National Accounting Institute, and Dr. Peng Runzhong met the delegation of African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) led by Dr. Frannie Léautier on 30 August in AFDC Beijing office.

Prof. Liu and Dr. Peng extended welcome to the delegation and briefed the activities of AFDC to the guests. As Prof. Liu said, AFDC offers an internationally-recognized platform for capacity building in the areas of finance and development. It is making a significant contribution to the Asia-Pacific Region, but also more and more to Latin America and Africa, in a wide range of areas including training and research on development issues, debt management, infrastructure financing, and rural/agricultural development, among others.

Dr. Léautier expressed her appreciation to AFDC’ warm welcome and shared an overview of the work of the Foundation to the host, saying that, ACBF as the premier capacity building institution in Africa, organizes its work around developing technical skills and ethics through its university partnership, as well as organization building and creating the conditions for successful developmental transformation with a key role for regional economic communities. Given the respective strengths of each side, ACBF would like to explore partnerships between the two institutions which would allow African countries to tap in the China’s vast experiences.

The two sides then discussed the potential areas of partnership and partnership modalities with regard to the strengths of each side. The 2- hour meeting unveiled numerous cooperation areas between AFDC and ACBF and both sides agreed to meet again later this year and endeavor to sign a Memorandum of Understanding during the next mission of the ACBF to the  AFDC headquarter in Shanghai.
