2011 SHIPDET October training held at AFDC

2011 SHIPDET October training, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Finance of China (MOF), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the AFDC was held at the Shanghai National Accounting Institute on October 10-18. It attracted 55 participants from the Monitoring and Supervision system of the Chinese Ministry of Finance as well as 9 participants from Nepal, India, AusAID and UNICEF. Leaders from the MOF, AFDC as well as core faculty of the training delivered opening remarks at the opening ceremony.

The Deputy Director General of MOF, Mr. Chen shared with participants the cooperation between MOF and some international financial institutions in terms of capital funding, knowledge sharing and collaboration in international practices. With the efforts of four sides, SHIPDET has been running for five consecutive years since 2007, providing development evaluation trainings for more than 1000 participants from 33 countries with enhanced recognition as the center for evaluation capacity building in the Asia-Pacific region and an important platform for south-south cooperation.

Dr. Li Kouqing, Deputy Director General of AFDC, welcomed the participants to AFDC hoping that the participants could be actively engaged in networking besides learning knowledge.

The core faculty of this training is still the same from previous years, i.e. Dr. Linda Morra Imas and Dr. Ray Rist, senior evaluation specialists from the World Bank. In addition to this, the organizers also invited several professors and country representatives to present the evaluation cases of China, Nepal, and AusAID to help the participants apply the evaluation knowledge to their real work.
