First CLEAR-AFDC Training on Impact Evaluation Opens in Shanghai

     The first CLEAR-AFDC Training Course on Impact Evaluation: How to Design, Manage, and Conduct Impact Evaluations opens in Shanghai National Accounting Institute on March 6, 2012. The training is sponsored by the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results (CLEAR), the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center (AFDC) and International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3IE).


      The training brings together 56 participants from 17 countries who are mostly evaluation officers, program officers, professors, and policy makers with monitoring and evaluation function. The course introduces impact evaluation as a key instrument for informing policy designs and improving program designs. It will also cover some practical aspects of program evaluation, such as managing an evaluation team, planning and implementing data collection, and disseminating results. It will last for about two weeks and consists of lectures, hands-on-learning exercises, case studies, and extracurricular activities.


      Nidhi Khattri, Head of CLEAR Secretariat, Howard White, Executive Director of 3IE, and Dr. Li Kouqing, Deputy Director General of AFDC are present at the opening ceremony and delivered opening remarks on behalf of the course sponsors. Professor Paul Glewwe from University of Minnesota, as the main instructor of the course, is also present at the opening ceremony.
