Workshop on Fiscal Reform and Development of China Held by AFDC

The first round training course of Workshop on Fiscal Reform and Development of China was successfully held at Shanghai National Accounting Institute from March 28 to March 29, 2013. This workshop was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Finance of China, the Asian Development Bank, and the AFDC.

Dr. Li Kouqing, Director General of AFDC, and Ms. Wang Ying, Director of the International Department of the Ministry of Finance, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The training course brought together over fifty divisional chiefs nationwide from provincial, municipal, and autonomic regional financial departments of China.

The training course was centered on Fiscal Reform and Development of China. For the purpose of improving fiscal management and enhancing the capabilities of fiscal cadres, renowned experts from domestic and abroad in the field of Public Finance Management were invited to share with participants the latest mechanisms and methodologies of Public Finance Management in four modules, including Local Debt Management, Reform of Budget Methods and Practices, Fiscal Reform and Property Taxes and Environmental Taxation.

Mr. Anwar Shah, Consultant of the Technical Assistant Program of ADB, was also invited to deliver lectures on International Experiences of Public Finance Management.

The second round of the training course is scheduled to be held in this coming April in Guangxi Province, P.R. China.
