The 2013 SHIPDET National Offering held in Shanghai
From April 22-25, about 67 participants from 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China gathered at Shanghai National Accounting Institute for the spring program of the 2013 SHIPDET Training.
The training course was co-sponsored by the Ministry of the Finance of China (MOF), the World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center (AFDC). Dr. Peng Runzhong, Director of AFDC and Prof. Wang Yongjun from Central University of Finance and Economics attended the opening ceremony and addressed opening remarks respectively.
The training course was divided into two parts: core courses and SHIPDET alumni experience sharing session. The first part included one course on The Theory, Status Quo and Practice of Development Evaluation which was taught by Prof. Wang Yongjun from Central University of Finance and Economics, and one course on Operations and Cases of Performance Evaluation of the Loan Projects from International Financial Institutions which was lectured by Prof. Liu Qiming from China Agricultural University. Both professors gave lectures in a vivid way and had fierce discussion with the participants afterwards. Following the core courses, participants were divided into several groups for the case study on performance evaluation of the comprehensive treatment of Suzhou Creek in Shanghai. It was finished by oral presentation in groups and each of them was commented by the lecturer.
The last experience sharing session was delivered by previous SHIPDET trainees in an aim to share practical experiences on performance evaluation. There was very good communication and interaction between the past and fresh trainees. This session was hosted and commented by Dr. Zhao Min from AFDC.
The SHIPDET training program started in 2007 and currently entered its seventh year. In the past six years, the SHIPDET has successfully trained nearly 1600 officials, scholars and professionals from 40 countries.
