The 1st Workshop of China-Myanmar Capacity Building Program 2014 Held in Hangzhou
The 1st Workshop of China-Myanmar Capacity Building Program 2014 on China’s Small and Medium Enterprises Financing, which was co-organized by the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center (AFDC) and Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM), was held on July 7-11 in Hangzhou, China. Dr. LI Kouqing, Director General of AFDC and Mr. Win Thaw, Deputy Director-General of CBM jointly opened the training and delivered welcome remarks on behalf of the training co-organizers.
As Dr. Li pointed out, China and Myanmar not only share a common border but also have much in common in culture. Since 2011, with the support of Minstry of Finance and Revenue, Myanmar and Ministry of Finance, China, there are about 90 finance officials participated in 4 workshops held by AFDC and CBM, which can enhance communication, understanding and cooperation in aspects of economy and culture for people in the two countries. Hangzhou is not only a beautiful tourist city,but also the capital of Zhejiang province, which is a gathering area of many China’s small and medium enterprises. So, it is very significant for AFDC to choose Hangzhou as the venue of this workshop. Dr. Li also suggested that the participants should take the chance to travel around and experience the deep friendship of the Chinese people in the midst of the training.
Mr. Win Thaw thanked AFDC for its great efforts of organizing workshops to promote capacity building of Myanmar’s finance officials. As he said, Myanmar is undergoing a series of social and financial reforms now and the development of SMEs is just underway, it is very useful for the finance officials to participate this worshop. With the rapid development of China-Myanmar economic cooperation, there are wide space for the two countries to communicate with each other. On behalf of the participants he said that they would cherish this opportunity to learn more and take the Chinese experience and friendship back to Myanmar.
About 15 participants from Foreign Exchange Management Department,F(xiàn)inancial Market Department , Internal Audit Department , Policy Research, International Relations & Training Department from the Central Bank of Myanmar attended the training.During the five-day workshop, the participants and experts shared their insights and experiences on these topics about An Overview of SME Financing in China, Overview of the CAS China Accounting Standards for Ses, The Internet Finance, Policies of Chinese Banks on SMEs Financial Reform, Development of China’s Village Banks and Government’s Role in Financing Service for SMEs. AFDC also organized a field trip to “Uni-Power Group, UPG”,which is the largest financial guarantee company for SMEs in Zhejiang province.
