2014 SHIPDET Core Course Opened

2014 SHIPDET core course in Development and Evaluation, which is co-sponsored by the Ministry of the Finance of China (MOF), the World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center (AFDC), was held from October 13 to 19, attracting 55 participants from 18 countries. Dr. Li Kouqing, Director-General of AFDC, Dr. Linda Morra Imas and Dr. Richard Tobin with WB, and Mr. Ganesh Prasad Rauniyar, Principal Evaluation Specialist from Independent Evaluation Department, ADB attended the opening ceremony and addressed opening remarks respectively.

Mr. Rauniyar thought highly of SHIPDET’s achievements in past years. As he pointed out, more and more countries and organizations have realized that output is no longer the only thing that matters. In fact impact sometimes is more important, and it is the focus point of 2014 SHIPDET core course.

2014 SHIPDET core course has the most diversified participant backgrounds compared with ones held in past years. Mr. Rauniyar hoped that participants not only learn from lectures, but also share experience and knowledge with each other to take advantage of sharing and exchange.

Dr. Li warmly welcomed all participants, and hopes that SHIPDET provides not only opportunities to improve participants’ evaluation skills, but also chances for networking which may help participants in their future career.

2014 SHIPDET core course would be delivered through group discussion, seminar and lectures, so that participants are able to learn different view of result-oriented evaluation knowledge and concepts through different channels with motivation and creativity.
