Workshop on Public Private Partnership (PPP) held in Shanghai
Workshop on Public Private Partnership (PPP) which is co-organized by the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI) and the KDI School of Public Policy and Management is held from December 8-13 in Shanghai, China. Dr. Li Kouqing, Director-General of AFDI, and Mr. Jeong Ho Kim, Professor of KDI School of Public Policy and Management attended the opening ceremony and delivered opening remarks respectively on behalf of the co-organizers of the workshop. The workshop attracted over 40 participants from the Ministry of Finance as well as line ministries of economies in APEC region.
Cooperation on infrastructure investment and financing had been identified as an important policy theme for the APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) in 2014. Following Korea’s proposal for launching a capacity building training program for officials in charge of infrastructure development in member economies, Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI) will collaborate with the KDI School of Public Policy and Management and implement a series of training programs.
During this 6-day training, experts from Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA), Peking University-Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy, Shanghai Municipal Finance Bureau, CCB Chengtou Environmental Protection Equity Investment Management Co., Ltd shared their knowledge and insights on the issues including an overview on PPP, the Importance of Stakeholder Engagement in PPP Projects, Building a Favorable Institutional Framework for PPP, the Development of PPP in China, and the Development of PPP in Korea. Participants also visited Shanghai Laogang Waste-to-energy Center and Shanghai Huadian Xinzhuang Industrial Park CCHP PPP project.
