Workshop on Capacity Building Program for APEC Member Countries’ Infrastructure Development held in Seoul, Korea

The Workshop on Capacity Building Program for APEC Member Countries’ Infrastructure Development ,jointly sponsered by Ministry of Strategy and Finance of Korea, KDI School, and AFDI, was held from Mar. 22 th to 27th in Seoul, Korea. Dr. Sung-Joo Lee, Associate Dean of KDI School, and Dr. Li Kouqing, President of SNAI, delivered welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony respectively on behalf of the co-organizers of the workshop. More than 30 participants from 10 economies including Australia, China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea , Peru, the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia, etc. attended the workshop, which is a continuation of the “Training Workshop on Public Private Partnership” held in Shanghai last December. The topic of the this workshop was to share “Korean Experiences and Practices” on infrastructure development with APEC economies, and to provide a platform for sharing experience on PPP implementation.

Experts from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance of Korea, Korea Development Institute, the Catholic University of Korea, University of Seoul, Korea Aerospace University, KG Infra Finance Research Center , and DaeWoo Construction shared their knowledge and insights on the issues including “The Impact of Infrastructure on Economic Development”, “PPP in Korea”, “Publicly Financed Infrastructure Development”, “The Need for Private Sector Participation in Infrastructure Development and Financing”, “Legal and Regulatory Framework of Public-Private Partnership in Korea”, “Case Study on Public-Private Partnership in Korea”. Professor Chen Chuan from Sichuan University invited by AFDI shared experience on PPP program development in China. Participants also visited Incheon Bridge and made country reports during the workshop.
