Training Course on Regional Economic and Financial Monitoring held in AFDI

Training Course on Regional Economic and Financial Monitoring, co-organized by Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI) and Asian Development Bank (ADB), was held in Shanghai National Accounting Institute from 1st to 12th June. Dr. Peng Runzhong, director of AFDI and Dr. Junkyu Lee, chief economist of ERCD, ADB attended the opening session and respectively delivered welcome remarks. 34 participants from China, ASEAN secretariat, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and other Asian countries and international organizations attended the training course.

During the two-week training course, experts from ADB gave systematic introduction on both theoretical and practical themes, such as “Macroeconomic Analysis and Financial Stability”, “Asian Economic Development and Outlook”, “Financial Vulnerability” and “Application of the VIEWS Software”. Local experts from National Bureau of Statistics of China also shared ideas and experiences on China’s financial surveillance and macroeconomic monitoring. In addition, participants, on behalf of their own country, jointly presented country economic briefing covering current economic development and financial monitoring condition.

This training course is the 4th capacity building program co-organized by AFDI and ADB in the field of regional economic and financial monitoring among Asian economies. Through this training course, economies in Asia shared and exchanged experiences on regional economic and financial monitoring, which will greatly strengthen economic and financial cooperation and improve financial monitoring ability in the region.
