MY LIFE IN CHINA AS A STUDENT

MY CAMPUS LIFE

As a student in China, my life is enriched beyond measure. I am enthralled with China's varied culture, deep history, and friendly people from the moment I arrived. I was greeted by a lively and international group of students as soon as I stepped foot on campus in December 2022. The enormity and elegance of the campus were among my initial impressions. Its spacious green areas, innovative classrooms, and modern facilities made it the perfect setting for study and personal development settings.

Engaging with individuals from all backgrounds is one of the best aspects of my experience on campus. interacting with international students from places like Nigeria, Pakistan, Laos, Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Botswana, I also made friends with some local Chinese students. My perspective was widened, I made lasting friends, and I learned about various cultures in this diverse environment.

I have a rewarding and demanding academic life on campus. The lecturers are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful despite the demanding curriculum.  Study groups, libraries, and research facilities are among the many resources at my disposal. My chosen topic of study is becoming greater because of the emphasis on practical learning and critical thinking abilities.

Many extracurricular activities are available to participate in outside of the classroom. I joined groups and clubs that shared my interests, like Shanghai Runners, Fit Fam, and SWIFT community service. I can pursue my passions and learn new skills while taking some time off from my academic work. I participated in a half marathon and performed quite well, completing my 21.05 km race in one hour 58 minutes. It is an accomplishment, In the Future, I look forward to participating in the official races, including the Shanghai Marathon, since I could not get a chance this year.

Two other benefits of living on campus are a sense of unity and convenience. I can easily access the dining halls, sports facilities, and other amenities from my pleasant and well-maintained dorms. The campus is laid out to foster an environment that supports academic and personal development.

Living in China also helped me develop a strong respect for its customs and culture. I was continuously in awe of the depth and diversity of Chinese culture, from experiencing customary Chinese celebrations like the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival to studying ancient Chinese philosophies like Confucianism and Taoism.

In addition, the university hosts festivals, performances, and other cultural events that let me fully experience Chinese customs and traditions. In addition, I got to take in the vibrant street life, historical sites, and local cuisine while exploring the city and its environs.

My time on campus in China has changed me; this is my second home. I received a top-notch education from it, exposure to fresh ideas, enduring friendships, and a profound understanding of Chinese culture. I am thankful for the experiences and knowledge I have gained—as well as the ones I continue to acquire—on campus. Throughout my life and to my home country, Namibia, I will always carry them with me.
