International Students Went to Beijing for Field Study
From July 1st to 5th, the international students of Classes of 2021 and 2022 went to Beijing to carry out their last “Reading China”, a series of on-site teaching activities on China’s reform and development, before returning to their home countries after graduation. During the nearly one-week period, the students went to government departments, visited international financial institutions, Chinese local brand accounting firms, and famous central enterprises, and experienced the Chinese character culture and climbed the Great Wall to once again gain a deeper understanding of the real, three-dimensional, and comprehensive China.
Entry Into the Ministry of Finance to Learn About China’s Tax Reform and International Financial Cooperation Experience
On the morning of July 2nd, the international students went to the Ministry of Finance to learn more about China’s foreign financial cooperation and exchange, budget performance management, as well as accounting talent training. Ayansa, Girma Terefe from Ethiopia said afterwards that China’s experiences in fiscal system reform, foreign financial cooperation, and accounting talent training is impressive and worthy of Ethiopia’s reference and learning.
Visiting the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and Learning the Concept of a New Type of Multilateral Development Institution
In the afternoon of July 2nd, the international students went to the headquarters of the AIIB. During the discussion, Mr. Francisco Fortuny, Senior Investment Officer of AIIB, introduced to the international students in detail the purpose of establishment, mission, values, and basic operation of the investment business of AIIB, and explained by using specific projects as example about how AIIB follows the infrastructure development concepts of sustainability, innovation, and connectivity. Nyakoon, James Mucee from Zimbabwe said after the visit that although he had learned about AIIB through the International Financial Cooperation course offered by the College, being able to go to AIIB headquarters and interact with the experts face-to-face gave him a more intuitive and deeper understanding of AIIB’s role in promoting international financial cooperation and infrastructure connectivity.
Visiting Reanda and Learning the Story of How China’s Independent Accounting Service Brand “Went Global”
In the afternoon of July 3rd, the international students went to Reanda Certified Public Accountants LLP. During the discussion, Mr. Huang Jinhui, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Reanda International, introduced the development history, main business and strategic planning of Reanda. Chairman Huang also briefly reviewed the cooperation between Reanda and SNAI in the training of internationalized accounting professionals in recent years and expressed that he would continue to support SNAI’s Master of Accounting Degree Program for Developing Countries.
Visiting China Railway Group Limited(CREC) and Appreciating the “Pioneer” Style of “The Belt and Road” Construction
On the morning of July 4th, the international students arrived at the headquarters of CREC. In CREC’s “Pioneer” Culture Exhibition Hall, the international students seemed to travel through time and space to appreciate the century-long origin and outstanding achievements of CREC since 1894. During discussion, the international students had an in-depth exchange with experts of CREC on the implementation of the oversea infrastructure projects of CREC. Saynorlath, Phomsavanh, from Laos, expressed her enthusiasm during the visit, saying that the development history of CREC for more than 100 years and its continuous innovation with the times is breathtaking. She said the China-Laos Railway connecting Kunming, Yunnan Province and Vientiane, Laos, not only brings transportation convenience to Laos, but also promotes economic development, creating job opportunities and improving the lives of the people from Laos.
Learning Chinese Characters, Climbing the Great Wall, and Feeling the Charm of Chinese History and Culture
On the morning of July 3rd, the international students went to the Chinese Character and Culture Experience Park of Beijing International Institute of Chinese Language and Culture. The students first learned about the origin of Chinese characters, then experienced ancient Chinese character rubbing, calligraphy, ink painting, and made a fan with their own hands.
In the afternoon of July 4th, a group of international students embarked on a journey to visit the Juyongguan Great Wall with great excitement. For most of the students, it was their first time seeing the Great Wall with their own eyes, and they were shocked beyond words. Encouraged by their teachers’ saying of “no man is a good man until he reaches the Great Wall,” the international students showed great determination on climbing to the highest point. Afterwards, the students said that the Great Wall was their dream trip, and that the majestic Great Wall, the Chinese history and culture contains in it, and the perseverance of the Chinese people will inspire them to continue surpassing themselves in their future studies and lives.
