I am a Master of Professional accounting student from Namibia, my impression of the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) have comprehended several viewpoints as follows:
- Global Trade Understanding: The CIIE is a significant platform for understanding global trade dynamics. It offers insights into how international markets operate and the trends that affect trade, which can be crucial for my future career in accounting.
- Networking Opportunities: Attending the expo has provided valuable networking opportunities with professionals from different sectors, including finance and business management. I have had a privilege to sit with different companies representatives from southern African countries such Angola ; Diamond mining and processing industries, and South African manufacturers of mining safety equipment’s – it is a high tech equipment that gives warning of possible dangers at the mining sites to prevent mining fatalities, Germin ,GIS and environmental services – A leading female owned professional services company –that help clients to have positive environmental impact, just to mention a few. I have improved my understanding of industry practices, business ethics and management exposure. I believe possible potential future career connections.
- Exposure to New Markets: The expo showcases a variety of products and services from around the world. As an accounting student, I had an honor to see and lean how different countries and companies position their products for trade, which gave me an insightful understanding of international business practices.
- Cultural Exchange: Participating in this event also offered a cultural exchange experience, allowed me to appreciate the role of culture in business and accounting practices across different regions.
- Sustainability and Ethical Business Practices: from the Parallel session forum, which I believe UNIDO and the Chinese government was the focal point, the South-South Cooperation and the belt and Road initiative. Insightful knowledge and wisdom was shared on the ability to generate and share technological innovation, capacity building and fostering true global partnership. As a tool to build urban resilience on, infrastructure development, water management and sustainable energy and green infrastructure. Observing the deliberation on SDG-strategic industrial policy, corroboration and regional coordination how companies operate in terms of sustainability and ethical practices can inform your views on corporate responsibility, which is becoming increasingly important in accounting.
- Learning from Innovations: I have observed many Asian exhibitors at CIIE focus on innovative technologies and practices that can revolutionize accounting processes, such as block chain or AI. I am inspired to think about the future of accounting in a global context. Although due to language barrier I could not interact with the exhibitors, this has encouraged me more than ever to improve my Chinese oral communication.
In summary, the CIIE has greatly enriched my learning experience as an accounting student by broadening my understanding of international trade, providing networking opportunities, and exposing me to innovative business practices such as the presentation and discussion on Sustainable development goals (SDG) China’s new energy vehicle Industrial development and sustainable Cities, the Industrial support plan and the establishment of a green, eco-friendly and energy saving technology, robust and internationally auto industry in China.
