The 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum
The 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum, held from November 5th to 10th, 2024, at the
National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, revolved around the theme of "HighStandard Opening up for Universally Beneficial and Inclusive Economic Globalization." The event drew a wide array of global leaders, including Nobel laureates, government officials, business executives, and scholars, who engaged in dialogues on critical issues such as climate change, sustainable development, AI, new energy vehicles, and global economic governance. The forum emphasized international cooperation and aimed to foster an open world economy by addressing the opportunities and challenges of globalization, thus contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable future.
The forum featured 19 parallel sessions under four main sections: Opening-up for Development, Opening-up for Cooperation, Opening-up for Innovation, and Opening-up for Sharing such as:
- Opening-up for Development: Sessions focused on industrial development, sustainable urban construction, and sustainable trade amid climate change.
- Opening-up for Cooperation: Discussions included China-Africa cooperation and the role of international organizations like the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
- Opening-up for Innovation: Topics covered artificial intelligence, new energy storage, and new energy vehicles.
- Opening-up for Sharing: Sessions aimed at promoting high-quality development of trade and investment, and celebrating the 30th anniversary of the World Trade Organization (WTO)
After the parallel session, I have an interest on the topic that express about "Digital Finance Boosting Global Economic and Trade Development". This session was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government.
The session focused on the transformative impact of digital finance on global economic and trade development. Discussions included the role of digital finance in enhancing financial inclusion, improving trade efficiency, and fostering economic growth. Experts and industry leaders shared insights on the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in the digital finance sector, as well as the potential for international cooperation to harness these advancements for global economic development.
On the other hand, I have gone through the exhibition and I have found my country booth which have around 100 Cambodian premium products displayed including rice, cashew nut, coffee, etc.
In conclusion, after I joined the exhibition of the 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum, I have learned a lot of information about internation import and exports and more about new advanced technology, especially about digital finance which is an important factor to boosting the global economy.
