The Ever-Improving China International Import Expo (CIIE)
——Member of the College Strategic Advisory Committee, Dai Liu, gave the International Students a Lecture of VISION series
On the afternoon of January 8th, Dai Liu, a member of the College Strategic Advisory Committee, delivered an engaging lecture titled "The Ever-Improving CIIE" to international students. The lecture was hosted by Peter Saxo-Decker, a 2024 international student from Marconi University in Sierra Leone.
Dai Liu has been deeply involved in the construction and operation of the National Exhibition and Convention Center. He has spearheaded and been responsible for the local legislative work for the CIIE, drafting the "Shanghai Regulations on Serving and Hosting the China International Import Expo." During the lecture, he systematically introduced the legislative background, core principles, and achievements of the regulations, shared the experience and impressive track record of the CIIE in "hosting with high standards, achieving results, and continuously improving" over the years, and provided an outlook on the next CIIE.
The 2024 cohort of international students had an in-depth experience of the 7th CIIE last year and showed great interest in Dai Liu's sharing. They raised numerous questions, such as the similarities and differences between the CIIE and the Canton Fair, the origin cooperation of the CIIE, the support from various levels of government for the CIIE, the challenges the CIIE may face in the future, and the participation process and costs of the CIIE. Dai Liu provided clear and insightful answers to each question.
This lecture, through Dai Liu's high-level perspective and real-life experiences, told the "CIIE story" and the "Shanghai story" to the international students. Combined with their previous experiences at the CIIE, it vividly illustrated the confidence and actions of Shanghai and China in high-level openness and high-quality development, showcasing the economic vitality and charm of Shanghai and China.
