Exploring the Source of Vitality in the Private Economy: Seeking Knowledge and Practice of the Wenzhou Model
International Students of class 2024 Conduct Field Study in Wenzhou
This field study adopted a blended approach of thematic lectures and corporate visits, guiding international students to deeply explore the innovative development path of the "Wenzhou Model." At Wenzhou Luoshan College, Professor Zhu Kangdui systematically elucidated the evolution of Wenzhou's private economy and shared its implications for contemporary economic development. During visits to benchmark enterprises such as Delixi, RedDragonfly, and Taichi, the students witnessed firsthand the digital transformation of manufacturing, brand globalization, and the dynamic practices of Chinese-style management.
By integrating theory with practice, this program not only provided international students with vivid case studies to understand the diverse forms of China's market economy but also contributed valuable "Wenzhou Wisdom" as a reference for economic transformation in developing countries worldwide.
In the morning of April 10th, the international students visited Wenzhou Library to gain an in-depth understanding of the city’s innovative cultural initiative—the "City Study Rooms." As a model public-private partnership project, these study rooms utilize intelligent management systems and RFID technology to create a 24/7 self-service public reading space. The project manager provided a detailed introduction from four key aspects: the sustainable operation mechanism, the "Standardization+" management model, digital integration and innovation, and regional collaborative development. Special emphasis was placed on how the government supports public cultural infrastructure through funding policies, encouraging private sector participation while continuously improving service quality.
In the afternoon, the students arrived at Sanyang Wetland in Wenzhou Ecological Park for an immersive learning experience. Walking along the serene wetland trails, they visited the Nan Huai-Chin Academy, nestled amidst lush greenery. Here, they learned about the remarkable contributions of Master Nan Huai-Chin as a guardian of traditional Chinese culture and were deeply moved by his profound patriotism.
During the visit, the students made a delightful discovery—a rare historical photograph from 2004 featuring Master Nan Huai-Chin during his lecture at the Shanghai National Accounting Institute (SNAI), standing alongside then-President Professor Xia Dawei. This precious snapshot not only captured the elegance of the revered scholar but also highlighted the long-standing cultural connection between SNAI and the academy, evoking a sense of kinship among the students and faculty present.
After four days of field research and immersive learning in Wenzhou, the international students will now compile their insights into a comprehensive research report centered on the "Wenzhou Model." By systematically analyzing the development strategies, innovative practices, and broader implications of Wenzhou’s private economy, they aim to deepen their understanding of China’s socio-economic development path while drawing parallels to their own national contexts.
